ALT

Menus

If you press the ALT key the menus at the top of the screen will highlight their related keyboard accelerators by underlying them. You can then press the related key to select that menu item. The same applies to submenus that pop up. If they have a keyboard accelerator it will be underlined.

 

 

 

CTRL  F4

All Forms

Attempts to close the current form.

ALT  F4

All Forms

Attempts to close Deal Manager.

CTRL  Tab

All Forms

Switches between open forms.

 

 

 

CTRL  F

Finder Form

Sets focus to the Search Criteria field.

F5 or CTRL  F5

Finder Form

Refreshes the results the same as pressing the Go button.

ENTER

Finder Form

If focus is in one of the criteria fields then refreshes the results and sets focus to the results grid.

If focus is on the grid then selects the current row and presses the Ok button.

ESC

Finder Form

Closes the finder form the same as pressing the Cancel button.

Maintenance Form

Refreshes/reloads the current record.

CTRL   F

Maintenance Form

Initiates a Find operation to navigate to a different record.

CTRL  N

Maintenance Form

Creates a new record (on most maintenance forms).

CTRL  S

Maintenance Form

Saves the current record.

CTRL  SHIFT  S

Maintenance Form

Saves the current record then closes the form.

CTRL  P

Maintenance Form

Presses the Print button.

CTRL  PageUp

Maintenance Form

Navigates to the previous record.

CTRL  ALT  PageUp

Maintenance Form

Navigates to the first record.

CTRL  PageDown

Maintenance Form

Navigates to the next record.

Maintenance Form

Navigates to the last record.

Maintenance Form

Presses the Attach button at the top of the form if there is one.

ALT  App

Maintenance Form

Presses the Actions button at the top of the form if there is one.

 

 

 

CTRL  F5 

List Form

Refreshes/reloads the current list.

 

List Form

If you type in the grid it will search for the first record matching what you type.

 

 

 

CTRL  +

Grid

Appends a new line to the end of the grid.

CTRL  -

Grid

Removes the currently focused line from the grid.

CTRL  + (numeric pad)

Grid

Pressing CTRL and the + key on the numeric keypad (not the one above the letters on the keyboard) will best-fit / auto-size all columns in the grid. Note: This also works many places in Windows like Windows Explorer.

SHIFT  Click

Grid

Holding down SHIFT while clicking on a grid column header will reverse the sort order (if the grid supports sorting).

 

 

 

Tab 

Field

Moves to the next field in the tab sequence.

SHIFT  Tab

Field

Moves to the previous field in the tab sequence.

ENTER 

Field

Works the same as Tab in most cases, unless it has special meaning within the field.

CTRL  Del

Field

Sets the current field to NULL if possible.

ALT  Down

Field

If the current field is a drop down list or date field, expands the drop down.

Up

Field

Cycles to a previous value, if the field is a drop down list, date field, or numeric field.

Down

Field

Cycles to the next value, if the field is a drop down list, date field, or numeric field.

Left 

Field

Depends on the field type but usually moves to the next logical position. For a text field it would be the next character, in a tab control it would be the next tab.

Right 

Field

Depends on the field type but usually moves to the previous logical position. For a text field it would be the previous character, in a tab control it would be the previous tab.

F7

Field

For most text fields this will spell check the current field.  It is enabled/disabled on a field by field basis but is available “where it makes sense” (e.g. Memo field of GL Documents).

 

 

 

Space Bar

Check Boxes

If the current field is a “check box”, checks or un-checks the box.

 

 

 

Apps

“Special” Fields

If the current field has an Actions button, displays the Actions context menu.

CTRL Up

“Special” Fields

If the current field has a “lookup” / “finder” button, initiates the lookup process and displays the associated finder form.  Note: Think “look... up”.

CTRL Right

“Special” Fields

If the current field has a “go-to” button, initiates the go-to process and displays the associated information.  Note: Think “go/jump... over there”.
